As part of its continuing mission to advance the digital printing industry; one of PODi’s primary objectives is to enable efficient variable data printing. To that end PODi supports two standards: PPML and PDF/VT.

PPML

The PPML standard enables high-performance, device-independent printing of personalized print in high volumes. PPML has been cooperatively developed by many companies as an open standard that genuinely changes the performance and economics of personalized printing.

PDF/VT is an international standard (ISO 16612-2), a file format designed for the exchange and production of Variable Data Print (VDP) jobs. PDF/VT satisfies the requirements of job portability, page independence and device neutrality.

 CheckPPML_Pro is the production tool for pre-flighting and viewing (proofing) PPML. It is dramatically faster than the CheckPPML tool used by manufacturers to certify their PPML producing and consuming products.
